If the open web is the model then all Nokia needs to do is build a great standards compliant HTML5 browser based device. The OS doesn’t matter and apps don’t matter then. Honestly not sure why the non Apple crowd hasn’t figured it out that the browser as a platform trumps everything else. Yes Nokia is potentially better owning the core for phone functionality but for apps all you need is the browser.
